Importing AAF from PP

Hey guys,

maybe one of u guys can help me.

I created multiple AAF files and reimported them to PP to check them.

So the only one that has been working was with the settings of "seperate files" and "copy complete file".

Since it is a huge project that AAF has been more than 20 GB and that's way too slow to send it.

So i did various ones with "embedded Audio"  and "consolidate" but as i reimported it in PP23 it is all offline... and there is no way to link the media because there are no seperate files.

1. Question: is there a proper way to import AAF with embedded Audio back into PP23?

and i did an AAF with "seperate files" "consolidated" with handle length, and i could import it. But again all has been offline. So i relinked it... but it kinda reliks the footage really random.

Some of the parts have been fine, but there various files with that "zebra" mark, that there is no content. so at the process of relinking the footage it kinda screwed up...

2. Question: Is there a different method to relink that stuff, so PP doesn't screw that up completely.

I hope the language barrier is not too rough for people here to follow.

I uploaded 2 screenshots, so u might see the issue.

If you have used "Merge clips" in their, that can be an issue. Merge clips was never designed for that use. It's simply a quick & dirty tool to 'link' clips on a sequence for quick moving them around together.

The odd thing is that the Multicam process is the intended, designed-for tool for joining video & separate audio irregardless of whether there actually are mulitple cameras involved.

And in fact, this is covered right at the begining of their very useful long-form/major project best practices guide. LInked below. Along with Jarle Leirpoll's extension of that subject on his blog. Jarle being the principal author.

Hey, thank u for your quick reply.

There has been a multicamera involved, but i "flatened" all of the clips to the very source. I even removed every video clip out of the TL.

Maybe it is because of the 16 Audio Track rooted sequence setting?

Maybe. A flattened multicam is the "correct" method for XML, EDL, AMF, and such workflows. So you did that correctly.

Dense audio tracking can at times be an issue, but that's way outta my league.
