Question

Inconsistent export times

Over the past week I've been exporting the same file with different edits. The sort of average export time has been 55 minutes. That was until today where I exported it 3 times and they took 10 minutes each which was strange but all the settings were exactly the same. I've restarted my PC and have made a minor change, simply cut 10 seconds off one of the clips, gone to export it again and now its back up to 55 minutes again. It makes no sense, the file is smaller and shorter and the export time has gone from 10 minutes to 55. Any suggestions? Please bare in mind I'm in no way experienced with Premiere but I know I haven't changed a single setting.

It may have something to do with what you're doing in the background. If you're watching videos in the background or doing any other graphics/cpu intensive processes in the background, it may affect the speed.
Also - are you sure that you're exporting with the same settings? Make sure that you are doing the same number of passes and that all other factors are equal.

My PC isn't the best, I'll admit that but recently I reformatted it completely. It only has about 4 programs on it, including premiere. I haven't even been connected to the internet. No background apps open,

Different edits can give different export times.

It may help if you delete cache in PP and AME.
