Question

Insert slide from srt file to sequence with markers

Hi everybody

Is there any way to use "automate to sequence" with srt files while using markers on the sequence?
I want to use this for subtitles, meaning that I will add markers on the begining of each slide then I need to put the slides (from srt files) exactly at the markers points. If this would be possible in PP I won't need to adjust so many slides.

I use this for subtitling translation, therefore I couldn't use the transcription

Thanks in advance

Here’s how you can insert slides from an SRT file into your sequence using markers:

  1. Import the SRT file into Premiere.
  2. Add it to an empty sequence.
  3. Select all the captions, then go to Graphics and Titles > Upgrade Caption to Graphics.
  4. Select the converted graphics in your timeline, then choose Graphics and Titles > Upgrade to Source Graphic.
  5. This will create a clip for each subtitle in your project panel. Create a new bin and add the source graphics to it.
  6. In your main sequence, add sequence markers for each caption.
  7. Select the bin in your project panel, click Automate to Sequence, and use these settings:
    • Ordering: Selection Order
    • Placement: At Unnumbered Markers
    Click OK.

Thanks Paul

very helpful

but is there a way to also adjust the length of every slide? Meaning that each slide should begin at the marker and be as long as the distance between that marker and the next one (see attached pic)

Select all the source graphics in your Project panel and choose Markers > Clear In and Out before using Automate to Sequence.

You can also do this in the timeline by selecting all your graphics, and choosing Clip > Speed/Duration and setting the maximum duration of your graphics.
