Interpreting 59.94fps footage as 23.976fps causes duplicate frames

I shot some 59.94 footage on a Canon R6II with the intention of interpreting it as 23.976 for solmo. The footage was shot with 1/125 shutter speed. I have done this with no problem many times. When I interpret the footage to 23.976 and create a new sequence using these clips, when I play the footage if feels like 12fps. When I shuttle frame-by-frame through the clip, every other frame is duplicate. I have tried to replicate the problem by recording new clips on the R6II and the footage slows done fine and looks slow and smooth as it should.. Is there a setting or something I missed that could be causing the duplicate frames?

How are you changing speed? If with the Interpret Footage dialog … don’t!

Use the Duration/Speed controls instead … and see if that helps.

I get the same problem using duration speed. After looking at things a little closer, I discovered duplicate frames were written into the file..  Going frame by frame in a 59.94 timeline on the footage revealed this. I’m now looking into how to pull out the duplicate frames. I don’t know why my camera did this.

    Ouch! What a pain ...  I hope it’s not actually interlaced ...
