Interpreting Rec.2100 to Rec.709 creates glitches in Premiere Pro

When I Modify>> Interpret Footage>> Color Space Override: Rec.709 the whole project starts to glitch on playback. This then extends to the export (1080 H2.64 Rec.709). I have had this happen with several projects now and it's become a nightmare.

Sometimes I can resize each clip and roll the dice that when I render it next it won't have a glitch.

I've tried most quick fixes and had an adobe support team member on my computer for 4 hours. Nothing has worked. If anyone has any ideas or has had a similar problem I'd love to hear what helped.

Media files are all - Sony 4K HLG3 (HDR Rec.2100)

My Computer: MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021) - Apple M1 Max - 64GB RAM

Operating system: macOS Monterey version 12.2.1

Premiere Pro v22.0

Some things I've tried:

Older version of Premiere.

Uninstalling all adobe cloud and reinstalling it.

Importing to a new project.

Clearing all cache.

Deleting rendered files.

changing between Rec.709 & Rec 709 (scene)

Audio hardware>> Default Input>> None

This seems to be a problem with color spaces and/or Apple silicon and Premiere Pro. I have no idea tbh and neither does Adobe support.

Hi Ben,

Sorry about this. I noticed that bumping up the RAM in memory preferences can really help as can avoiding scaling of images with any color grading applied. Optimizing footage to the native frame size may help, as can transcoding and creating proxies for such files. Hope we can assist.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply.

Bumping the ram did nothing. As mentioned I'm using a full speced out MacBook Pro  and designating 52GB of RAM to Premiere. it's not running slowly by any means.

I really think this is a bug with Premiere on Apple silcon. When i transfer the project to my @17313227 Imac it works fine and exports fine. this is my work around for now.

Hey Ben,

Do you have access to 22.3 or the 22.4 Beta yet? It's being released this week. If so, you might try a test to see if the bugs have been addressed yet. If it's not there yet, check back tomorrow. It should be on the scene shortly.

Thanks,
Kevin
