iPhone footage is Choppy, Laggy and out of Sync on PC

My work uses a lot of iPhone footage and I use a PC at work, so when I import it into my timeline, the iPhone footage goes out of sync, gets choppy and laggy. I always convert the footage to h.264 mp4 files, but this is very time consuming. Any workarounds?

If encoding by Media Encoder doesn't help try to encode the clips using Handbrake, here is the link : https://handbrake.fr/

And import the transcoded file through media browser option.

    Hi there, Dean.

iPhone footage is highly compressed, so much so, that it is very difficult for all but the most powerful computers to deal with. It performs very poorly. What most people do is create a separate set of files called "proxies" or transcode the footage to an "editing codec" like ProRes LT or ProRes 422 as they ingest.

What's cool with this technique is that you can immediately start editing with the files you import, and over time, the files "become" editable ProRes files automatically.

While the files are being processed in the background, editing is a little laggy, but before you know it, your files start editing with ease (as they are are tranformed into ProRes LT or the like). Pretty cool.

Unless you get yourself a monster PC, please use the proxy or transcode technique. Remember you can create the files in the background as you work.

    Please return with questions.

    Thank You,

Thanks for the response, but the workflow of my job really requires speedy editing speed and we shoot primarily on iPhone. Will there be an adobe update to make it so I don't have to transcode all my footage?
