Question

Is beta 26.0 the same as release 26.0

Because the Beta 26.0 was the buggiest version I’ve seen in a long time (understandable, but I will still stay clear if it is)

I asked this question yesterday but I presume the new forum ate it. Yay progress.

    Yes, your original was:

“Is 26.0 the same code whether it's a beta version or a release?
(Because the beta 26.0 was probably the buggiest version I've seen in years - to be expected I guess when the masking has changed so fundamentally).”

    I replied:

PR Release 26.0.0 is the same project file version (45) as PR Beta 26.1.x. PR Beta 26.0.x was a different version (44).

Beta and public releases are different builds. No matter whether they are (like now) the same major version, or like a couple weeks back, where the then-release was 25.x, the public beta was 26.x.

Sometimes, the project file used in a beta build ... if the same major version as the shipping release!!! ... may be usable in the shipping release.

You can always check the build numbers easily. Go the the Help menu item, click “About” ... and at the top of the dialog the full numbers for that build appear.

So say the public release is something like “26.0.1(3)” ... that would be 26 (major project version), the .0.1 the general build series, and (3) the actual ‘build’.

And the public beta of the same time might be “26.1.4(47) ... or whatever.  They will never be the same.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...
