Is it possible to automate word documents into Premiere?

Hello Adobe community,

 

Long story short, my workflow often involves creating many legal disclaimers before publishing my video. This is usually done by grabbing the information from a word or excel document and putting it back into Premiere via copy and paste. I usually receive these documents from another team, and the time it takes to render, bounce it back to them for double check, change any typos etc... is quite a lot if you add it up over the year.

 

Since we live in the time of AI and automation, I was wondering if there's a way to automate this? I did a bit of digging into .CSV automation through After Effects but since the text is usually quite long, and some parts need to be in bold - it doesn't feel like the way to go.

AFAIK there is no straight path to bring in a Word document, but it is possible to work with a pdf/psd file to keep all formatting, iow bold text etc.

 

When you get a Word file you can open it in word and go to the Acrobat tab and click on Create PDF. Save the file and open it with Photoshop. In Photoshop, save this as a .psd file. Now, import the psd file in Premiere Pro. 

 

Pros: It keep the formatting of the text.
Cons: The text cannot be edited in Premiere Pro. 

 

This requires that Adobe Acrobat is installed but since it is included in Creative Cloud it is easy to install.

    I'm afraid that this would be more troublesome than just copy and pasting straight from Words to Premiere. And it wouldn't allow a solution where I can just replace a template word document and get it dynamically linked to Premiere.

     

    Whilst reading your response, I thought of a way to automate word document into Illustrator -> Premiere. In this way, Premiere can import the illustrator file and there can be some automation done here. Have you seen any similar workflow this way?

    Try it, but mind that Premiere Pro does not continuous rasterize .ai files and this means bad result. Illustrator > After Effects is the way to go since After Effects do continuous rasterize .ai files and handle .ai files in a superiour way compared to Premiere Pro. You can import the after effects composition to Premiere Pro and have it update itself dynamically with the help of Dynamic Link.

     

    Maybe After Effects is the way to go since there are many scripts aviable. I don´t have the time to do any research now, but ask the same question in the After Effects forum. 🙂

     

    So the workflow may be Word > After Effects > Premiere Pro.
