Is play head selection outside of the small area above timeline possible?

Hello!Coming from avid you can select the playhead even when your mouse is above the clips in the timeline and move the playhead around. This is helpful because currently in Premiere you only have the small space above the timeline to select the playhead, and if you have markers on your timeline and you accidentally click it it throws the playhead to the beginning of the section which is not ideal.  In avid you can move the playhead around anywhere in the timeline, then you can change it to selection tool when you want. Is this possibel in Premiere? Thanks!

No, this is not possible in Premiere. Avid uses distinct editing modes, and when you are not in Trim mode or Selection mode, you can click anywhere in the timeline to move the playhead. Since Premiere is "selection" based, the same type of thing is not possible. There is a shortcut called "Move Playhead to Cursor" that comes in handy. Though it is definitely not the same thing.
