Is the newer versions of Premiere Pro causing slowing down of my Macbook Pro (1025)

I have a 2015 Macbook Pro with 16GB will using the Promiere Pro 2017 cause a slow down problem? About a year ago my computer started having problem when I used Premiere Pro. I had an Apple tech look at it and they said that the computers operating systems are working fine.  Would using an older version of Premiere Pro help
