Is there a preference or setting for highlighting previous clip after making an "add edit"?

What I had been able to do with Premiere 2019 and before was when making selects during interviews, I'd play the all the interview clips in a sequence and then hit 'K' (which I mapped to Add Edit) after every good sound bite and then when the beginning of the next good sound bite came along I'd hit K again, hit the spacebar and the previous clip would be highlighted in the timeline and I could simply hit the DELETE key and it would go away, so that when I was done all I was left with were the sound bites I wanted.

Now, when I hit 'K' nothing highlights in the timeline, even when I pause the playback. I know it used to do that, at least for a few seconds, where it would highlight the previous clip in the sequence.

I now have to grab my mouse click on the part of the clip I want to delete then hit delete. I used to be able to do it without needing a mouse. I imagine there's a checkbox somewhere that will allow me to do this, but I can't find it.

Thanks!

Steve

Maybe you refer to the fonction " Selection Follow Pleayhead". Enable it in the Sequence menu. You can add a shortcut to this fonction in order to enable or disable it at will.
