Question

Is there a way to share folders between 2 productions?

hey all.  Question - Is there a way to SHARE folders within a production with another production?

Use case - I've got two productions, each with a bunch of projects in them.  There are certain common media items I want to use in each production (which i've separated because of content type and how they're arranged in Bridge) and i'm wondering if there's a way to share a particular golder (or project) between two different productions as a meta on the ability to share the media within it's own production space.

I considered, maybe there's a kind of shared folder I could create in Bridge? Maybe a way in Premiere I don't know? The other option would obviously be to have everything in one production, but i'm liking having my videos sectioned off into large-scale categories (teaching videos / story videos, etc.) and wondering if there's a way to avoid duplicating the files that I have in there.

Alternatively, how to copy a project from one productions set to another (which would speed things up rather than copying & pasting inside of Bridge & then importing)

Thanks in advenace 🙂

This is not possible because all the projects in a Production are managed by a .prodset file within the Production folder.

To import a project from another Production, go to the Production panel, click the context menu, and choose Add Project to Production. If the project is missing source clips, click Edit > Generate Source Clips for Media.

If maintaining separate productions, Paul is of course correct.

My question would be: why do you need separate Productions?

As the whole point of the Production model allows for by-folder organization of projects and assets. While allowing sharing between projects.

Of course.  And I appreciate you both.  I sensed the logic of it and intuited that your answers would be thus.  As for your question, I had considered (in my mind) that organizing different conceptual sets into different productions would be helpful, but now I see that i'm being foolish, I can use everything for my brand in one set of productions.

Thank you both 🙂

Perhaps use Productions differently?

Most of my work is in my one-person shop. I use a single Production for everything, all my different types of clients, personal work, everything.

Organized by the folder structure holding different types of work, with subs for different projects/clients within that segment of my work.

That way all my assets are available for any project I do.
