Question

Is there any way to Snap only selected clips together, not the entire timeline?

I'm fairly new to Premiere Pro and I'm trying to see if there is any way to snap together only clips I've selected. I'm trying to close the gap of selected audio clips, without having the other unselected clips move. The close-gap feature shifts the entire timeline and doesn't ignore the track above it (even if it's locked). And if I right click a gap and ripple delete, it will move all audio clips, even those unselected.

For context, I'm editing a timelapse video of myself drawing. I had a seperate mic for commentary during my process, so the audio is not linked to the video (because most of the video will be sped up). There are instances where I slow down the video to match my commentary, so I need the audio clips to stay in sync while I'm editing.

I'm hoping there is any shortcut to this, it would make my process go by faster. I appreciate any input.

Move the clips you don’t want to move to the track above or below and disable Sync Lock (to the right of the track number in the track header) for these tracks. Then, use Sequence > Close Gap.
