Is there anyway to get black less black?

Hey all, so I'm putting together this horror short from some footage I shot on our family vaction 2020 just for fun and to practice color grading. The whole thing was shot on cell phone and some of it is too dark to actually see. Is there anyway to make black less black? I worked with Luminitri Scopes and RGB color wheels and got some interesting x-file type stuff but I'm not sure if it fits the tone. I'm thinking maybe try masking and adjustment layers. Well if anyone has any ideas, thanks.
