Issue ALT/OPT replacing Mogrt update

Hi, I am having an issue ALT/OPT replacing updated Mogrt files in Premiere.
I have read that you can alt/option drag a new version of a mogrt onto the old version and it should keep the changes from Premiere. It even worked for me once during testing but has now stopped working and I can't figure out why.
If I alt/option drag a new version of the mogrt onto the old version it resets all the peramiters that were edited in premeire. 
This happens even when none of the peramiters were changed in AfterEffect.
Any ideas would be greatly appriciated!

    Did you use the exact same composition in After Effects to update the MOGRT?

    If you duplicated the original composition and made changes to the duplicate, the update will not work. The MOGRT must be linked to the original composition it was created from.

     

    If you need to make modifications, ensure you're editing the same composition in After Effects before re-exporting the MOGRT.

      Thank you for your response! I was versioning out due to workflow requirements but otherwise keeping things in the essental graphics pannel consistent. Using the exsact comp fixed this issue! And luckily we can still update the comp/file name to version up.

      Hopefully we'll get an update soon so we can keep old versions in the same aep.

      you can use the True Comp Duplicator script for After Effects 

      to keep exact copies of your comps and do the edits in the

      comp the mogrt is linked to.
