Issue with audio tracks are mapped wrong in Premiere 2020???

Hi all, I noticed the following problem in the latest Premiere 2020 (14.0.0 build 572).

I am on Windows 10 if it helps.

If I create a new sequence from any of the templates, for e.g. select the ARRI 1080p 25 template, and drag the video in, I noticed that the audio mapping is coming the other way around.

The A2 comes in first and the A1 comes in second. Like the screenshot below.

The same happens if you choose any of the templates.

BUT,  if I drag it over so it automatically creates the sequence everything is fine. A1 comes first and A2 second. Screenshot below:

The multichannel files seems to import fine. I do not see any changes to the audio layout.

That means I cannot use any templates as the audio files will come in wrong!

Any ideas on that?

Thanks!

I would suggest starting with the Sequence Settings dialog open and showing the Arri preset, then go to the Audio tab and re-create the audio connections you need.

Then name it something like "1 Arri 4 Audio track" so that it is at the top of the drop-down list.

Close/reopen Premiere, create a new project, and make a sequence using that preset, and drop the media on it ... see if that works.

Hi Neil and Jeff,

I made a video that maybe will help you 'see' the problem a bit better.

Premiere 2020 import bug

I tried Neil's idea also for re creating the Arri template but the result is the same.

Let me know your thoughts and of course if you are able to replicate this issue?

Thanks!

Yes, that is expected, as your source patching is swapped. Drag the left "A1" so that it's above "A2" then drag your footage to the timeline.

Jeff,

Great catch there ... I'd guess that's the issue for this user.

In your first screenshot you have your source patching swapped. If you correct that, does this resolve your issue?

Well, no.

When you create a sequence as I did using the Arri template the sequence has the right side V1 A1-A4 blue.

When I click on the video to drag in the sequence then the left side V1 A2+A1 highlights blue but in the wrong order.

So, it's not something I am doing, it's how it interprets the clip?

But only via a template. It is weird...

They sort things as they see them  ... but I'd suggest including "Bug" in the title.

They found that when their system had "bug/feature" options to tick ... about half the postings had chosen the wrong option. So they do it by themselves now, had to anyway.

I would suggest filing this on the UserVoice system, which is for all bugs/features stuff and goes directly into the engineer's system. I got to talk at Adobe MAX last month with an engineer who personally reads nearly everything filed on the UV system, and he was quite emphatic ... they want all this type of thing posted there so they can track weird stuff and go after it.

And in glorious detail. Screen-grabs and all.

This seems ... odd.

Thanks Neil, I will post it there.

Which category do you think is the best to put it?

Thanks,
