Question

Issue with Major Dropped Frames During Editing/Playback

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro with i9 2.4 GHz 8-core and 64 Gb RAM, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB. 1 TB of storage and it's brand new with nothing else on it.

The dropped frames is insane -- the indicator shows an average of 64 dropped frames! This is worse than my 4 year old Dell laptop. I purchased this because my creative friends swear by Apple. I put playback to 1/8 to no avail.

Anyone having the same issue? Most unnerving is that I am editing Zoom conference footage. This ins't 4K footage.

MIght not be 4K but most likely highly compressed and variable framerate.

If so convert to constant framerate with Handbrake before bringing into Premiere or use proxies.

Thank you! In a fit of frustration, I left the computer all night so it could perform a Render and Replace on the clip. I will try Handbrake (and hope that it doesn't take as long!)
