Issue with replacing Essential Graphics

I am creating Essential Graphics in After Effects for our video editors. We are still using Premiere Pro 15.4.5. There you can press ALT+drag to replace templates. The text keeps the same, but size, position and color changes. With this worklflow we can easily produce videos for the different screen sizes, without having huge templates which are slow while editing.

In Premiere 23.0 / 23.1 this doesn't work well anymore. Everytime I want replace a template, I get the pop up "Multiple Matching Graphics Detected" which asks me if I want to replace other instances of this graphic in all sequences. It doesn't matter if I press Yes or No, it replaces all instances in the whole project.

The name of the template in the timeline and the parameters in the Essential Graphics Edit panel won't change anymore like in Premiere Pro 15.4.5

Are there any plans to fix this issue in further versions? Since we are looking forward to update our workstations. Thanks in advance

Tested on:

MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2021

macOS 12.3

Apple M1 Max

Memory 64 GB

Premiere Pro 23.1

Essential Graphics created in AE 23.0.0

Thanks for fixing the issue with the mogrts in Pr 23.2. Our workflow with ALT + drag works again.

Is there already a release date when Pr 23.2 will be released?

To be clear, the current Alt + drag to replace a mogrt WILL replace design changes without blowing out the customized text for each mogrt instance. It's just not exactly like the old Live Text Templates workflow. I suggest trying it out after you can get to a version with the fix and them post back here to let us know what bit of functionality is still missing for you.

Thank you for your quick response. Good to hear that the problem could be fixed. I am looking forward to Pr 23.2. We already use the Motion Graphics Workflow, but sometimes it's faster for the editors to replace templates with ALT + Drag while the text keeps the same. This saves us quit a few clicks.

Thank you for contacting us about this. There was a problem where all mogrt instances were replaced even when choosing No in Multiple Matching Graphics dialog. That problem has already been fixed in the Pr 23.2 Beta builds and will be available in the next version of Pr. As for the Pr 15.4.5 behavior, I believe what you're referring to is the old Live Text Templates workflow. That feature has been fully replaced with what we now know as Motion Graphics Templates. This newer workflow will let you author one template in Ae at a certain size and choose which properties you want editors to be able to change over in Pr.
