Issues when dragging anything on Premiere Pro

Hi all, 

I am experiencing a glitch with Premiere Pro where any form of dragging does not work. For example, dragging any ‘effect control’ value will treat it as a click and opens the text box, dragging to extend a clip or move a layer simply won’t work, and even dragging to scrub the playhead does not work. It’s a super frustrating glitch that I first noticed in January, but today it’s playing up more-so than usual. This is an intermittent glitch; dragging does & can work, but only half of the time.

This issue occurs when using either the trackpad or external mouse, so it can’t be a hardware issue.

I have reinstalled Premiere Pro numerous times in an attempt to fix the issue, but the glitch still continues. 

I’ve attached a screen recording to show exactly what I’m experiencing.

I am running Premiere Pro Version 26.0.1 (Build 3) on a MacBook Pro (Nov 2024), 48GB memory, running Tahoe 26.3.

I’d appreciate any help and support on this!

      We have seen issues with these panels.  Please reach out to the developers they may already have a ticket for this.  Have you tried updating your panels?

      Hey! Has anyone been able to fix this yet? I have the same issue and it's super annoying having to battle with the software just to drag something! I’m currently using the Mister Horse Extension plugin and it's all updated. If this isn't fixed soon I’ll be forced to switch to a different software as its frustrating and takes me twice as long if not more to create videos

      Is anyone experiencing these issues without any plugins installed? Trying to work out how to get around this issue

      Hey! had this issue wanted to respond how I fixed it so it’s on the top of the form! Check third party like mine is Mister horse the second I upated it all all bugs like this was fixed!

      Having the same issue also and I haven’t found a fix it’s been months. Is there a fix yet Adobe?

      I have very similar problem.
      Every time I was using premiere with touchpad, while in transport - dragging with touchpad stopped, blocked, very randomly. I was fighting with it for 3 years, searched everything - I was furious.

      The odd thing was - it was happening only with touchpad and only while transit. 

      Today I found out strange thing. When I moved my Mac from horizontal position to some angle - lets say from laying on table to 45degree on my laps - IT STOPPED DRAGGING. When I put it horizontal touchpad drags again! (It does not correlate with monitor angle, but with MacBook angle)
      I am not sure if it is 100% correct, but I was so happy to find any clue - I came here to post.

      I hope something can move with this issue! There is hope my not dragging friends.

      I have observed the same issue; it consistently arises during transport, and once movement ceases, the problem disappears, making it a moving concern.

      Hello- this has gotten worse. It is worst with trackpad- but it has started doing it with a mouse. I’ve attached a movie of it; I can drag the windows but cannot drag the parts of the interface, including clips to the timeline. 26.3.0 Build 93

      I have NO external plugins installed and experience this on my own personal copy of Premiere and my work copy of premiere. This is on a MacBook M4 and a MacBook M5.

      Hello, I'm having the same problem. The timeline is glitching

      I can no longer drag layers, change numerical values, or trim a layer.

      It's becoming impossible to edit.

      I'm on a Mac M1 Max

          Also having this problem over and over again, you’d really espect more from Adobe and with a high priced subscription for basic use of the software to be failing is just unacceptable tbh.

          I’ll be making the switch to DaVinci… didn’t want to have to but adobe have forced me too

          I have experienced the exact same issues; and they seem to be getting worse. I have neither the artist nor the Premiere composer options. I have experienced this on an M4 MacBook on a work account as well as a M5 on my personal freelance account. I do have watchtower as well as spell book extensions though on my personal computer but the work one does not have any. 

          Adobe keeps hiking their prices and the product is getting less usable ...

          Have the exact same issues, restarting Premiere solves it temporarily but it’s only a matter of time - sometimes minutes - before issue pops up again.

          Have Artlist and Premiere Composer as well, both of which are up to date. Can also confirm closing both these panels solves the issue.
