Question

Issues with CUDA and nested sequences

There is a problem with using effects on nested sequences using hardware acceleration. For example, cross fade will instead fade to black between clips if the sequences are nested deep enough.

Sequence A: source footage clips

Sequence B: nested Sequence A

Sequence C: clips from Sequence B (cross fade works on this sequence)

Sequence 😧 clips from Sequence C (cross fade now produces a fade to black)

Any thoughts or solutions are appreciated.

Sorry, Elvis,

Did you trim the nested sequence before adding a transition to them? You need handles there, even if they are nested sequences. Could that be the issue?

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks for the response. Not sure what you mean by trimming; in the workflow I listed, Sequence B is a complete nest of A. Sequence B is then put into the source monitor to add clips to Sequence C, which respect the effect. But if I then put Sequence C into the source monitor to add clips to Sequence D, the cross fade transition on Sequence D winds up causing a fade to black.

Hi Elvis.

I tried following your directions, but I'm afraid I could not. Think I'd need to see screenshots or a movie to fully grok your workflow. For example, I don't know if you have Linked Selection engaged or not, etc. This can affect the behavior of this KEM roll style of editing.

In addition, the order of effects can sometimes create these kinds of problems, as can an unconventional workflow.

I think I'd need to see what you are trying to do before I make any suggestions.

Thanks,
Kevin
