Joining two clips with different frame sizes and matching them.

Question

Not too sure if my header makes sense as I'm writing this just after waking up.

I am a complete newbie to Premiere Pro, so still getting familiar with it's settings.

I am using the latest version of Premier Pro on my Windows 11 PC.

I have two videos. one is 640x480 and the other is 720x480. They are both basically the same production, but the first one contains an extended version of a scene within the second video (also the first video is slightly stretched anyway thus making the frames a different size).

What I want to do is to transport that scene into the other video and I am wondering if there is an easy way to get them to match up?

As I couldn't find the info last night before bedtime what I had been trying instead was using overlay to see if I could match one of the frames. In Effect Controls I set the Opacity to around 50%, switched off Uniform Scale and tried using the various other settings such as Scale Width.

One thing I have been unable to discover is how to adjust only one side of the image after double clicking on it and trying to move the Pointer, as it just wants to widen both ends. I assume there's some keys on my Windows PC I need to hold down as well to achieve this?

Create a 720 X 480 sequence to match the 720 x 480 clip. You can do that by dragging the clip to the New Item icon in the Project Panel.

Place the 640 x 480 media on the timeline. Right click it and choose Set to frame size.

Use a dissolve or other transition between the clips.
