Keep getting message "Project file has been modified since last save" whenever I hit Cmd+S

I recently switched from a Mac Mini (on Monterey, I believe) to a Macbook Pro Ventura OS running Premiere 2023. All my project files and media are on an external drive.  Everything works fine, no issues EXCEPT when I hit the Cmd+S shortcut for save.  Instead of just saving, I get this popup  "The project file has been modified since the last save, do you wish to continue?"  And I hit OK and it saves.  It does this every time.  It's saving, so that's fine, but it is very annoying to have to do the extra step of hitting OK every time I save the project.  If I move the project to my local drive on the laptop and open it in premiere, the Cmd+S works normally and I don't get the message.  It only occurs with projects on my external drive.  And only in Premiere.  After Effects and Photoshop all save projects on the external drive normally when I hit Cmd+S.  Any thoughts?

I've been having this issue off and on for a long time.

I'm on a PC with shared work environment (projects saved to a server).

This happened under 22, 23, and now 24.

To make it stop, I have to:

  • save the project as something else (usually just add a -1 to the file name)
  • close PP
  • remove the orignal project
  • then I have to rename the -1 to the original project name (due to MAM/Archive policy)
  • then reopen the project

I was hoping to find an explaination from Adobe on this, but so far haven't found anything other than other folks having the same issue.

I've also noticed the UUID type gobbledygook at the end of the project name.

The project name ends with the _01.

Having same problem out of nowhere lol, classic Adobe. Absolutely nobody has this project open but Premiere is acting like it is.

Did this ever get resolved? I just started having this issue on my new machine working on a shared work environment as well (project saved on a server). My previous machine (both windows 11) did not have this issue.

Thank you.

It did eventually resolve, when I upgraded to Premiere 24.  But there are still some keyboard commands that don't work (like go to next marker -- I just ended up giving that a new shortcut). We never figured out what the issue was.

I also just noticed that my autosaves have added a gobbledygook of letters and numbers to the file names.  They open and play fine in Premiere, but since the upgrade to the new computer and Premiere 23.5.0, the autosave files have these long names.  I feel like this is somehow related to my original Cmd+S issue.
