Question

Kernel exception crash becoming more frequent - Premiere Pro

Quadro M4000 card

i7 6900k CPU

64gb ram

64 bit windows 10

Running media from an external Lacie Big Quadra Raid via USB3

I'm regularly getting a kernel exception crash when booting PP. I've had this PC over a year or so and it's perhaps started over the last 4-6 months. It never used to do it. I update Nvidia, Adobe and Windows regularly as advised.

Strangely the crash always resets my desktop display settings (from slideshow & fit to stretched and image), perhaps something to do with Nvidia? This is less of an issue but annoying and a little odd.

There wouldn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to when it happens. Sometimes from startup with PP being the first application launched, sometimes it'll just happen when booting mid session (having had other adobe software open).

Anyone got any solutions or know what this error means and why it's started happening?

Thanks

Hi Alan_Silvester, do you have a crash log we can inspect? Here's how to access them: FAQ: How to find Premiere Pro crash logs on Windows?

    Thanks,

    Hi Kevin,

Just checked and for some reason all the logs in my PP folder are empty. I've a 6.0, 11.0 and 12.0 folder and none of them have any files inside. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks
