Keyboard Shortcut Mapping Fouled up in V23.1 Build 86

Like many I rely on the keyboard to accelerate my edit process.

My environment:

Mac Studio M1 Ultra, 64 GB RAM, a zillion CPUs and GPUs.

Magic Keyboard

Ventura 13.1

Premiere Pro V23.1. Build 86

I first notice unexpected behavior when I try to map Control-B, which under old systems I always mapped to "Enable" easily and quickly. I invoke the Keyboard Layout.

By default I have my custom layout "FCP 8" active. We never got FCP 8-- it became Premiere Pro CC.

I search for Enable and it comes up, under Clip.

Fine, I click the shortcut box and type Control and B.

Nope.

It wants to type in V. I didn't ask for Control- V. I asked for B. I tried this six ways from Sunday, and suspect it was not so isolated. Somebody has not thoroughly tested the kerybard mapping procedure. It would not take and would not give me the shortcut.

I read in a community post that this sometimes straightened out when switching back to the default keyboard, then forward to the desired layout. Corrects nothing here.

I use Keyboard Maestro, and for yuks I excluded Premiere from the app. No change.

REALLY bad spankable behavior.

We need to balance the keyboard and the mouse, or we cripple ourselves with RSI. My friends who coded show me their dangling wrists in velcro wraps, and look at me and tell me "I can't work anymore."

Scary and true. Help us balance the load and stay healthy.

Best as always,
Loren
