Question

Keyframe effects/animation on still photos shudders and not smooth

Hi. I've been all over the forums and YouTube trying to fix this but I can't make it work:

I am "animating" several still photos by adding keyframe effects such as Scale or Tint. Even after Rendering, though, the effect either shudders (when using Scale to zoom in or out on a photo) or appears strobe-like (when using Tint or another color-based effect) - e.g., instead of being a smooth transition from white to red, there will be a visually obvious jump in the footage, a pause, another jump, a pause, etc.

Here is an example in one of my videos:

The Desert by Tom Leveen - audiobook short story - YouTube

This sample shows two effects at once, but it happens when I just use one effect, too.

I have tried Nesting but that didn't have any impact. Is there a step I'm missing? I am not new to Pro but I'm not an expert either.

Thank you!

Thomas as Kevin mentioned, those keyframes are set so far apart its almost like you are getting stop motion type animation.

This is the same in Premiere Pro when you slow down a clips speed/duration to something as low as 30%.

Get those keyframes closer together to get some sort of "normal speed"

Thank you, Mo. Any suggestions on the longest amount of time a selection should be? A minute and a half appears to be too long still, the effect is still jumpy at that length. Thanks again!

ThomasL,

It appears that these effects are keyframed across long durations. Is that true? If so, I think this might be at the heart of your issue.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks Kevin. I tried reducing to about a minute and half, but it still looks jumpy; is there a recommended length a selection should be to help ensure smoother effects?
