Question

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your audio in Premiere Pro. It sounds incredibly frustrating, especially after following advice to improve performance. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the desynchronization issue:

Steps to Fix Audio Desynchronization

  1. Clear Media Cache Properly:

Press Shift at launch. In the Reset Options dialog box, choose to clear the cache files. This ensures that Premiere Pro regenerates the cache files correctly.

  2. Relink Media:

Right-click on the affected audio clip in the Project panel and choose > Make Offline and leave the media on disk. Select and right-click once more and choose > Link Media and navigate to the original audio file. Click OK to relink the file. Allow a few minutes to regenerate fresh cache files. This can sometimes resolve sync issues.

  3. Check Sequence Settings:

Verify a clip's audio sample rate by right-clicking and choosing > Media File Properties. Ensure that your sequence settings match the properties of your audio file. Right-click the sequence in the Project panel, select > Sequence Settings, and verify that the settings are correct for the audio sample rate.

  4. Use Auto-Save:

If you haven't already, try opening an auto-save version of your project. Go to File > Open Project and navigate to the Auto-Save folder to find a previous version that might not have the sync issue.

  5. Manual Sync:

If the above steps don't work, you might need to manually sync the audio. Zoom in on the timeline and adjust the position of the audio clip to match the video.

Additional Tips

  • Backup Your Cache: Before clearing the cache next time, consider backing it up. This way, you can restore it if something goes wrong.
  • Update Software: Make sure your Premiere Pro and operating system are up to date. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that cause these issues.

I hope one of these solutions helps you get your project back on track. It's really tough dealing with these kinds of setbacks, but hang in there! If you need more detailed instructions or further assistance, feel free to ask. We're here to support you.

Best of luck with your project!
