Lag Issue with sped up Clips
Hello, I am having an issue that with a few hours of searching other forums, watching help videos, and etc, I've been unable to find a solution. When importing a long clip (couple of hours), it imports without problems and plays back smoothly at 1/2 quality. When speeding up the clip to 1000% or more, playback becomes choppy. I've reduced playback to 1/4, I've tried rendering and then playing back, I've tried changing audio input to "No Input" and the standard array of basics others have suggested to fix playback. It skips so severely that it is impossible to edit.
I recorded my desktop doing an illustration using OBS, and am taking those clips and speeding them up. On a previous computer I had no issue, but on this new computer I bought, doing speedpaints currently seems impossible as the lag is so intense. I've tried playing around with other settings and have not been able to resolve this issue. With task manager open, and the program just sitting open without playing, CPU is at 2-3%, Memory 50%, Disc 0%, GPU 0%. During playback, CPU jumps to 40%, Disc 2%, GPU 6%. Don't know if that contributes to anything or not.
Current Sequence settings:
Editing Mode: HDV 1080p
29.97 fps
Aspect ratio: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
Display format: 29.97 fps Non-Drop-Frame Timecode
Sample Rate: 44100 Hz
Display Format: Milliseconds
(these may be wrong but ive been playing with them a lot to see if anything resolves)
Preferences:
Audio Hardware:
Device class: MME
Default Input: No Input
Default Output: Realtek Digital Output (Realtek(R) Audio)
Sample Rate 48000
Latency 200
Ram reserved for other apps: 3GB
Ram Reserved for Pr: 12.9GB
Optimized for Performance
My Computer:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 8-core Processor
Radeon RX 580 ARMOR MK2 8G OC Graphics Card
ASUS ROG Strix X470-F Gaming AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 ATX Motherboard
Exporting video and playing it back has no issues and runs smoothly, which is great but is ultimately unhelpful in clip editing.
Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? I could really use the assistance. Thank you!
