large icon view in project folder without opening new tabs?

is it possible to have the project folder view in large icon mode (so that I can see the clips)

but without it opening new tabs every time I open a folder? just replace the existing tab, with the new one that you open.

i find that you end up having lots of tabs open that gets confusing and then need to be closed

if its in list mode it doesn't do that , it has a tree view, but you cant see the clips then, only the names of the clips.
