Live video view for Sony A7SII - Matching shots for transitions

Hello

I have a shoot coming up which requires me to shoot identical framing in order to match two shots together to create seamless transitions.

I'm wondering if there is any software out there to help aid this type of technique, something which will allow me to live view my camera through a monitor against a previous shot, ideally so I can lay one shot over the other and adjust the opacity to make sure they are perfectly aligned.

I will be using a Sony A7SII, and edit with Premiere Pro CC, I don't know if there are any plugins or programs available that work with Premiere? I am more than willing to pay for software if it's available.

I have also looked at tethered shooting through Lightroom and 'Capture One', but I'm not sure these will do what I need them to do. Or maybe there is a simple fix for this I'm missing?

If anyone has any knowledge on this subject or has done similar techniques I would greatly appreciate any advise.

Thanks,

Rich

What you want to do is called "onion skinning". I believe the Small HD 5 and 7 series monitors do this (grab a frame and then superimpose the live feed over it) but not 100% sure. Worth checking.

Finding an onset monitor that will do that is probably your least complicated option.

I'm sure if you contact an equipment rental house and tell them what you want to do they'll be able to provide a solution. Make sure you tell them your camera is connected via HDMI.
