Loading time for Premiere Pro on a Dell XPS 9560 laptop...

Is it normal on a Dell XPS 9560 laptop (16mb DDR4 RAM, i7 7700HQ 2.8Ghz, SSD) for Adobe Premiere to take around 20+ seconds to open from when you click the icon?

For about 10 seconds the splash screen doesn't indicate anything is happening, and then I start to see all of the components loading before it finally opens up.

On my desktop PC with lower specs it opens in about 5-6 seconds, any suggestions?

    Hi MarkK,

Premiere Pro is a processor intensive application and I completely agree with Neil, launch time depends on the resources available for the application. I have two desktops and a laptop setup at my workstation (with similar specs) and launch time varies on all the machines.

    Thanks,

Thanks Kulpreet, after lots of experimenting I think I have actually managed to reduce the loading time. There are a few Adobe services related to CC such as updater etc and disabling them/removing them from windows startup seems to have helped!

Depending on what other services that lappie is running, I wouldn't find this out of line at all. I've got a significantly more powerful desktop, and that's what it takes for it.

Thanks for the response Neil, just perplexed that it loads so much quicker on my desktop PC which doesn't have as good specs.

Take a look at the Task Manager before loading on both machines, see how many processes are running, and how much of the hardware resources are already in use. This can very wildly from compute to computer. I've been around some laptops that run real "clean" with as few services as possible, and others where the manufacturer sets all these "helpers" to speed you through your day ... that can mean the difference between say 35-50 processes running and 90-120.
