Question

Location of Media Cache Resetting Each Time

I am a long time premiere user on the most recent version 2017.1.2

I've always jumped between projects on different external drives and never had a problem with my cache location. In this most recent update, premiere cannot seem to remember the chosen location of my media cache (which is typically set to whatever external hard drive I'm using -- different drives for every specific project.)

When I jump between projects and drives, every time I open a project, it looks for the drive I was just using but is no longer mounted, instead of remembering the originally assigned media cache location of the project I am trying to open.

Then, it will force me to reset the cache my desktop, something I never like to do. This is slowing down my workflow big time. Any thoughts?

My recommendation is to use only internal drives for editing.  Use externals only for backup and archiving.

I have never done that before, and this has never been a problem before now. Not sure what kind of work you are doing but most post houses would not follow that workflow as they are working on many different projects at once.
