Question

Lock Marker on timeline to keep from accidentally clicking on it and moving it.

I have markers with durations that I’d like to keep locked on the timeline to avoid grabbing and moving them. I’m not talking about the ripple sequence markers option. I mean, as if you were locking a track.

The markers are so close to where you would click to drag the playhead that I sometimes grab them and have to undo. As you can see from the screenshot, when you have a lot of layers, the room you have to move the playhead is minimal.

The only workaround I can think of is to create null clip and copy them all to that clip, then lock that track.

It´s not possible to lock markers, but it is possible to move the CTI with the mouse in the area marked with green circles in the image below. If you do that the mouse is far away from your markers and they will stay where they are. Avoid to move the CTI by placing the mouse in the area marked with a red circle.

The downside is that moving clips by mistake is easier now, so it may not be ideal but worth trying. :)

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the possibility of moving clips is an issue as well. In my case, the marker  durations are locked times based on music beats, so I’m thinking I can create a simple closed caption track with those marker lengths and lock that track.

Yes, using the caption track is a great idea! :)
