Lost ALL audio and some full clips after latest update

After the latest PrPro update, I lost all the audio in one of my projects. That same project also lost a couple of clips. I am 100% sure I had saved the project before closing it. Did anyone else experience this? It took me hours to rebuild the affected sequences.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your audio and clips after the latest update. To better assist you, can you clarify what you mean by "lost"?

  1. Is the media still on your hard drive?
  2. Is it still in the project panel?
  3. Is the media offline?
  4. Has it been deleted from your timeline?

Additionally, you might want to consider turning off auto-updates for Premiere Pro in the Creative Cloud app to have more control over when updates happen, especially during important projects.

Cheers,
Paul

Thank you so much for responding. Here is what happened:

I was working on a fairly long (for me) project that requires me to send updated versions of the sequences to my client after they send me feedback. I had to wait a few days for them to get back to me with additional, final edits. PrPro updated during that period, so when I went back to the project to finish it, the audio in the timeline was gone in one of the sequences--the linked audio with the person speaking, the music, the transition sounds, all of it. The other sequence still had the audio in the timeline, but several clips were missing.

I never touched the media in the drive, all the items were still in the project panel, and I did not get a "media offline" message. The timeline was the only part that was affected.

I was able to repair the missing audio in the first sequence using "Match Frame," but it took hours to do for each section. And I had to re-edit the second sequence with the missing clips.

I think it's all back to normal now, but it was incredibly frustrating. Luckily, the client did not need the final versions immediately, so in the end, aside from having to spend hours re-editing material that I thought was good to go, all is well.

Did you check the auto saved projects near where the project was saved? It is recommended to wait until you finish a project before updating Premiere. Sorry that this happened.

I think it updated automatically, so, no, I didn't wait until the project was done.
