Lost Hours of Work

Question

I recently started editing and lost all my progress due to a crash for the first time. I am just curious if there are any precautions I can take to prevent this in the future? My autosave does not autosave anything so I have to ctrl + s.

Make sure your operating system is up to date.

If NVIDIA graphics, do a clean installation of the newest Studio Driver (not the Game Driver).

Make sure that your hard drives (fast SSDs, not HDDs) are large enough and have ample free space for your cache and temp files.

Save in versions i.e.: Project Name v1, Project Name v2, etc.

I save after every major edit or before and after I apply a resource intensive transition or effect, as well as before rendering a long clip on the timeline. I then copy the saved project file to my backup drive.

What version of Premiere Pro?

I'm using 24.5, and have found the autosave and autorecovery to be much better than all previous versions.
