Maintaining quality when cropping in on 6k timeline for 4k deliverables

Question

Hey yall,I am in a tricky situation. Basically I have an entire 95 minute timeline that was built out with 6k footage in a 6k timeline. The previous editor frequently cropped/zoomed in on clips such that on the timeline the clips are scaled to 150% (for example). Technically this is no problem because that is still more resolution than 4k. However, my concern is when we do the final export in 4k. Will premiere preserve resolution? Or do I need to rebuild this whole thing in a 4k TL? This will be shown in theatres via DCP so it really does actually matter. Thanks so much &#128578; &#10084;&#65039;

If they just increased the image size in the Effects Control Panel, you're probably ok. As Premiere doesn't 'rasterize' to the sequence framesize unless you use the Scale To Framesize option. Which wouldn't have been used on that project.

So going to a 4k or UHD export should still work. But as always for professional deliverables, test.
