MAJOR slow down in export speed (Mac)

Hi All -

I was having a MAJOR slow down in export speed as well between 2018 and 2019.  I mean, like 5x longer.

I looked at my activity monitor and something like 15% of my CPU was being used.  Weird.

I'm running it on a MacBook Pro 2015 with 'only' 2gb of vRam on a AMD graphics card.  I freaked out a little bit when I read the minimum system requirements thinking I'd have to buy a new computer (that would be so lame).

BUT - for me at least - I'm back to my original export speeds by changing the project settings to better match my output.  I have 4K footage, that I'm outputting at 720p h.264.  I was using the export pane to resize a 4k project down to 720.  Instead, I change the sequence settings to 720p and am now exporting using 95% of my CPU and the export is moving along very nicely.

This is obviously a work around to an important issue, but, it worked for me and it may work for you if you're doing resizing work in the export pane.

> also, a caveat. I'm still mid-export, so TBD if the quality is affected by this workflow.

Wes - happy to walk through system specs / project files etc if it helps you diagnose the problem and provide a update to the software.

Thanks

    Hi forrestp23340357,

Sorry for the trouble with the export. If possible, please share a screenshot of the system specs.

Sure - here are my system specs (below).

I get that the requirements for the latest version of Premiere have changed - but my point was that there was a MAJOR difference in export speed between a 4K sequence being exported to Media compressor as 720p, versus taking that same sequence, making it a 720p seq in Premiere (resizing everything to 34%), and then exporting to Media Compressor.

And so, because of that difference, I feel like there might be an opportunity for a software tweak that helps users like us with only 3 year old machines (which are really quite new still and should be supported fully still.)

I appreciate you sharing the play back troubleshooting page, I'll definitely try some of those to see if it helps with my slight playback slowdown.

Thanks, and let me know if I can provide further information.
