Question

Make changes to copy of sequence without changing the original

Hi! I need to make a copy of the sequence in Premiere Pro and make changes there without changing the original one. However, it updates all the changes that I'm making. I did just copy and paste the sequence. How should I make it?

If you duplicate the sequence and also change source materials, it will change in BOTH sequences...( like you change a graphic source file or clip frame rate, etc...outside of premiere pro.

Let's say you use photoshop to change the graphic... then save it as the same name... that will also change your original sequence as well.

If you use handbrake to change the attributes of a clip and save it as the same name, it will change in both your sequences ( and projects ) unless you give it a unique new name ( adding something easy to recognize is a good idea )... like stated earlier.... clip 1 becomes clip 1-duplicate or 'new' or whatever.

when you save the original using 'save as' you give it a new name like project 1 becomes project 1 dupe.

Also when changing source files for use in the dupe....use 'save as' and save it for the duplicate...

For example, if you change a graphic in source materials, to use in the new duplicate project,  make it GRAPHIC-FOR DUPE...

So any source materials you adjust ( new frame rate or whatever ) use 'save as' and give it a name so you know it's for the duplicated project.

Duplicate your sequence in the project panel. Give the duplicate sequence a unique name. Open this sequence and make edits there.

Make sure the copy has a different name ... any change, even going from "Seq" to Seq Dupe" would do.

Then it shoud work.

Hi Neil!
I've tried both: duplicate the sequence and copy paste it, however, they're still linked somehow. I need to change the title in the sequence number 2 but the same change happen to appear in sequence number 1.

You need to duplicate the title you are trying to update, replace in the duplicate sequence and then update.
