Question

Making acronym out of longer words

Hello all.

Can anyone direct me to a video, or walk me through, how to take three longer words in a title sequence such as Mikes Pest Control, display them on screen, and then shrink all the words together at the end of the title sequence to leave only MPC? Does that make sense? I appreciate any and all help!

Yes, that makes sense! The simplest way is to animate each word separately in Premiere Pro (or After Effects if you want more control). You can start by placing "Mikes", "Pest", and "Control" as three text layers. Animate their position/scale so they shrink and move closer together over time. Once they overlap, you can either fade out the extra letters or use a mask so only the initials remain, leaving you with "MPC."

If you’re curious about how others handle abbreviations or condensed representations in more data-driven contexts (like how acronyms are used in stock market analytics dashboards), the same concept applies: start with the full descriptive text, then transition smoothly into the short form that’s easier to display.

As is so often there are many ways in Premiere and even more so in After Effects to do this effect. I have done a version using the title tool and basic motion effects:

Here is a link to the project that will give you an idea of how it was done.
