Marker Text Doesn't Write, Garbage Update, DO NOT UPDATE to 14.5!!!

After watching down and taking notes on a 45-minute skype, i exported my markers to google because the markers window is still garbage on AMD/Windows computers a year after I brought this to their attention, and nothing exported. I thought it exported wrong, but I looked at the markers and there was no text on any of them. Completely wasting two hours that it took to watch down the video. You would think that "writing marker text to markers" would be something important to keep when updating, but not at Adobe! I downgraded back to 14.4 and it works again. Why am I paying $600 a year for this piece of crap software? Does anyone test this? Do you care about your users, or are we just blank checks to you?

Do you realize how difficult it is to test this software on an almost infinite variety of hardware and os combos.   And if you're posting here for help, you need to tell us your system specs: OS version, Premiere version, amount of RAM, Hardware specs including graphics card and your source properties and sequence settings   Back in the day, Avid sold their systems as a turnkey solution.  They controlled hardware and softare and operating system.  And guess what... there were still problems. and it was great that you could talk to someone on the phone when you had a problem, but guess what... after the support that was including with your purchase of the system (Mine was abou $50,000 for an offline low resolution system) was expired, the support cost $3,000 a year.   that said, comparing working on the avid to the alternative, it was a great value.

This is a forum of users of the software and it's pretty amazing that Adobe employees monitor whats going on and step in sometimes if they feel they can help.  If you want to actually see if we can solve your problem, post back with the requested info and describe your workflow in detail and maybe we can help

I'm sorry I offended you... But it's a very different world now. Now there's competition, I'm sure they would love to not test anything and never give tech support, but DaVinci Resolve and FCP X are notoriously stable so they have to. Unfortunately, I'm super fast in Premiere and to move to a different NLE is something I'm not willing to do right now. So I guess, yes, this is on me.

But this particular issue with markers and the markers window has been present for about 40 versions now, I've been on the phone with them about markers multiple times, and they continue to add features that do absolutely nothing for me. (Except for the H.264 decoding support for AMD and NVIDIA) which is why I'm upset that this new update breaks my workflow, and wasted my time. So I'm going to wait for the next update, or hopefully there's a hotfix.

I'm using mulitple computers, a 2019 i9 Macbook Pro 15" and a Windows 10 system running a GeForce 1070 with 32 GB of RAM and an AMD 3900X. I updated to the 3900X literally so that I would be able to use the markers window because it's like a slideshow. But they still have some issue either with AMD or with Windows, because the markers window still sucks. But on Mac, it only partially sucks. I can't be sure if it's because Intel or because MacOS, I'm still waiting to hear back from Adobe on that. I was frustrated, as I often am with this software. Are you on an Intel-based PC? If you are, maybe you could try this for me? Scroll thru your markers window after adding 25 markers to a clip and see if it's a slideshow. On mine I can't even have the tab present on my screen or else my whole timeline slows to a crawl.

I'm not offended...  just trying to explain why these things can be difficult to troubleshoot.   What do you mean by a slide show?  Just that all the text in the markers has disappeared?  Are you putting the markers in the sequence or in the clips in the sequence.     Have you tried exporting the markers and see if they appear in the exported file?

I work extensively with markers and haven't seen this behavior.  Usually I put the markers in the sequence rather than the clip but I do sometimes enter markers in the clip...

If you want to send me a small project with just a sequence with the issue, I'll see if there's anything obvious...

Just let me know if you're interested and I'll send you my email address directlly.

For each new added hardware feature, major bugs will develop. The other extreme would be to stay permanently stuck in 32-bit software only (without hardware acceleration) land, with the software refusing to even work at all on newer hardware.
