Markers no longer stay with clips

Okay, I'm getting more and more frustrated...

There was a time that markers stayed with clips - then not so much, now not at all. I do a Ripple Delete and the markers don't move with the clips I want marked by the markers.

There are lots of uses for markers - I happen to use then as editing tools.

Why do markers not stay with the clips I have marked????
