Question

Mask Tracking Into Another Shot?

Hi all,

I have a sort of complicated shot that I'm not even sure I can pull off in Premiere but heres where I'm at.

I have a shot of an old television that I am wide on, to which I dolly in until there is only the blackness of the screen. Basically I'm trying to place another shot onto the TV so that when I dolly in the shot on the TV takes up the screen and you 'enter' that world. Im not very great with masks but what I did try was invert masking around the screen and then adjusting the shot I want on the tv to look like its playing there. The first frame looks fine but I'm not sure where to go from there. Premiere's auto mask tracking was not anywhere close to making it look passable. Is this something I would have to go through hundreds of key frames of adjusting to pull off? Is it even possible in premiere?

Thank you!

Try working backwards by using the Corner Pin on the second shot.

Dolly out and adjust the corners on the tv screen.

If you have Ae I would do it there.

Has excellent motion tracking.

I cant quite use Corner Pin, the TV is a rounded rectangular screen so it I need to adjust the corners of the second clip to those. Thats one reason why im trying to mask instead. Ill give Ae a try though.

Thank you!
