Mask tracking of an intermittant shape

Has anyone seen a way to enable a mask to track an intermittant shape? For example, traveling road lines that need an overlay where they appear, but not in between them. There must be a better way than to just nudge the mask ponts to catch the new location every few frames. I doesn't look like an adjustment layer can be timed to hop between positons. Is anyone aware of a better method?

Unfortunately I can't see your preview but you may want to look into rotobrush in After Effects.

Thanks for this suggestion. It looks like Rotobrush is helpful for tracking more complex shapes, but it doesn't look like it addresses disappearing and reappearing shapes. I think it will be useful elsewhere though, so I appreciate that tip.

Please post screenshots to show us what you want to achieve.

On a side not Premiere does not do motion tracking: either use Ae or this plugin:

For example, picture the road lane lines below moving upwards, where the lines need a shape beside them, only when they are within the box bounded by the orange lines. Is there a way to apply, for example, the yellow rectangles beside only the 2-3 full or partial lane lines as they enter that box?
