Masking issues

With the newest update and AI that premiere uses, when I mask a subject it creates an incorrect mask. With the pen masking it won’t let me track the mask properly. I’ve updated all of my drivers, premiere, my laptop (windows Asus Vivobook 15) tried different settings. I’m working with Nvidia as my GPU. It’s up to date. I’ve tried previous version of premiere and it didn’t change anything. NEED HELP.

@Jonathan Editor I believe I resolved the issue. I was able to save the project and then use the masking in another project file. Maybe it was just the project file itself.

I’m using footage raw footage that I’ve edited before in a new file. It’s not the camera or the footage. It’s only with masking after I updated Premiere.

    Hi @Peaceful_friends3809,

Thanks for the response! We’re asking about the specific camera type and footage specs to help us try to identify, and more accurately replicate factors that might cause the issue.

    • Would it be possible to send us a sample project where we can conduct more testing? We can provide an upload link if needed.
      • This can further help us try to understand any potential root causes.
    • Does the issue persist in Premiere 26.5.1?
      • Similarly, does the issue persist in Premiere Beta v27.0?

    Best,

    Jonathan

    Camera: Black Magic Pyxis 6k.
    Frame size: 6048 x 3408
    Frame base: 23.976

    I haven’t tried it in 27.0 beta.

I used to be really good at masking in Premiere. Now I have no idea how to get it to work right. I waste so much time and then give up and try something else. It’s become so convoluted.

    Premiere: 26.5

    Edition    Windows 11 Home
    Version    25H2
    Installed on    ‎2/‎3/‎2025

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU (6 GB) Studio Driver
    Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics (128 MB)

    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I’ve only tried the masking tool in this one specific project file. It first began about 5 days ago after I downloaded the most recent Premiere update.

No third party plugins are used.

I haven’t had any issue like this with previous versions.

    Hi @Peaceful_friends3809,

Thank you for following up with the specs and a screen record. Could you let us know what version of the Studio Driver you’re using? Are all the drivers up-to-date?

Here is a reference link to GPU and GPU Driver requirement: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/get-started/technical-requirements/gpu-and-gpu-driver-requirements.html
