Media Browser File always "in processing" (.asf files)

Hello everyone,

i just started to work with Premiere Pro CC and just got a problem which stops me from continuing.

I need to import a video file (.asf) from my pc. But everytime I open the folder, before the name of the file it says "In Verarbeitung..." which means "in processing...".

I hope you can see it in the screenshot.

If I try to import such a file, Premiere Pro crashes. So I thought, I just wait, until the processing is done, but there seems to be no end to it.

I waited for hours, but it's still in processing.

The file got a size of more than 20GB, but I think that can't be a problem for such a program as Premiere Pro.

I worked with Magix as a beginner's software and it worked without problems.

I hope someone can help me and look forward to your answers.

Thankfully

Johannes

Premiere does not support .asf, hence your issue.

What is the origin of the .asf?

You need to convert to a format that Premiere understands.

On a side note: Premiere is nothing like Magix.

ASF, or Advanced Streaming Format, is a container file, which may contain a variety of video codecs. Please find out what type of video codec is used so we can help you determine if Premiere Pro can handle it.

PPro is probably the most file agnostic editing system out there, so chances are you can work with it, although you may need some kind of translation first. Have you tried transcoding it with Adobe Media Encoder or Handbrake?
