may i ask you 2 questions?

1) in the  preferences -> media ->media cache files & media cache  database -> to the new ssd

2) in the Project -> scratch disks -> it's always set c:\users\myname\documents\adobe/premiere....

1) question

may i know the different between the preferences media cache & scratch disks?

2) second question

can i setup always my projects to use my new ssd as scratch disk?

Hi Giovannivolontè,

Thanks for posting in Adobe forums.

1) Media cache files are auto generated files when media is imported into Premiere Pro which is used by Premiere Pro in various ways like displaying waveforms in a timeline.

Scratch disks include captured Video, captured audio, video previews, audio previews, project autosave etc.

2) It is recommended to use scratch disks location same as the project, but it can be configured to SSD as well.

Thanks,

Vidya

I disagree with Vidya's recommendation about Scratch sharing a location with the project.  I do believe it's better on it's own, dedicated drive.

Simply point the location to the root of the new SSD, and it should stay there for all future projects.

Excellent rundown of each part per storage speed:

Importing Media

Conforming Audio

Generating Peak Files

Multistream Playback

Render Previews

Once you've started setting a specific location ... PrPro then will display that as you start a new project.
