Media Encoder 2017 Stopped Functioning Today - No Longer Accepting Quicktime Reference File

I have used Media Encoder 11.1.4 (2017 version) because the newer releases do not accept Quicktime Reference files to convert to .mp4.  This morning everything worked fine.  This evening, suddenly, I am unable to drag or open the same Quicktime Reference file that was converted successfully this morning into 11.1.4 (which actually displays build 11.1.2.35).

Adobe support agent helped me a minute ago by advising that Media Encoder 2017 is no longer supported and referred me to the forum.  I've been paying a monthly fee for quite some time just to use Encoder 2017.  Any ideas?

It was always dangerous using quicktime reference files cause if a single file got moved the entire reference file was useless.    Are you on a mac?

Not sure what to tell you, but can you describe your workflow?

Hi, mgrenadier-

I'm editing with Avid Media Composer on Windows 10. I'm trying a 30-day
trial of TMPGEnc 7 and it accepts the QT Ref. I appreciate the ability of
a reference file cooking in a separate program so I can keep working with
Composer.

I shoot multi-camera school and camp productions and have used Avid
(previously entry-level Pinnacle) for 12 years and am comfortable with it.
When Sorrensen Squeeze left the market and Avid offered no alternative, I
tried Adobe Encoder - discovered that the newer releases don't digest
reference files so I backed down the versions to 2017's. I was able to
build an .mp4 file for Vimeo upload and to drag the reference file into DVD
Architect for DVDs and Blu-rays.

I think TMPGEnc will solve my immediate problem even though I might prefer
Adobe's encoder.

Anyway, thanks for your response.
