Media Encoder not rendering Lumetri?

This is a complaint and a question, because I take it the problem is Media Encoder needs to have the LUT(s) installed as it is not in "it's" list, as the LUT was installed directly into Premiere Pro Lumetri folder (so I do not have to browse for it every time I need to use the same lut) which it says you can do in the documentation.

But what is with these programs not talking to each other? Which folder should LUTs be installed into so both or all programs can access it AE, PR, ME?

Why are folders not maintained in the LUT directory? Is it possible to organize them so they do not appear in one long list.

The  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\ file should have the Lumetri files so programs can access it.

Media Encoder is still super buggy and still decides not to open when you send something to it from PR or AE. AE is the worst with maybe 20% of exports actually making it to ME without ME continually needing to be restarted.

Do not ask me about PC specs because that is not going to solve the problem of poorly built software.

Don't add the Lumetri folder to that tree. Common/LUTs/then, Technical and Creative.

Don't add any LUTs from the Lumetri folders either. Just your own.

@richardj45414962

I get pretty good results going from PR to ME and AE to ME under Windows 11 Home on Intel Core i7 10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz with 16GB of RAM using Premiere Pro 23.2, After Effects 23.2.1, and Media Encoder 23.2.1; Premiere Pro 22.5.4, After Effects 22.6.4, and Media Encoder 22.6.4; or Premiere Pro 15.4.5, After Effects 18.4.6, and Media Encoder 15.4.5.

I also get good results under macOS Monterey 12.6.3 on Apple Silicon M1 Max with 32GB of RAM using the same versions.

Perhaps check your version numbers against one of those to get better results on your end?

Hey Neil,

Thanks for your reply.

I have added Lumetri to the common folder as it is not there. My take on the Common Folder it it was only for Plugins that can be shared. But I tried your suggestion and copied the Lumetri to the Common folder with the LUTs installed in the creative folder (the same as the Premiere Pro folder structure).

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Lumetri\LUTs\Creative

The LUTs from this Common folder are not being read or prioritized on launch or that it is not the correct way to use the Common folder? Any ideas? Have you done this yourself?

The LUTs should be in the proper subfolders for the two tabs of Lumetri, in the location you mentioned:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common

You may need to create the correct sub-folders if they're not already there ...

  • "Technical" for Lumetri's Basic tab
  • "Creative" for Lumetri's Creative tab.

Once you have those subfolders in that location, park the LUTs in the appropriate subfolder, and relaunch Premiere, they should simply appear in the proper drop-down lists in Lumetri.

And ... should be seen and used by both Ae and MediaEncoder.
