Question

Media Files not Working - Generic/Unsupported Format?

I'm currently trying to make a video together using Premiere Pro and cannot get past simply importing the files. I have .avi files which are "unsupported format or damaged" and therefore won't work, or my .mp4 files come up with "generic errors". This is the case for all four files I have, three of which are .avi files. In Media Player and VLC they work perfectly fine and play without any issues, and as I understand these formats are also supported by Premiere Pro so I can't understand why they won't successfully import.

Is there anything that I could to ensure that these files are able to be imported into the program?

AVI and MP4 are wrappers, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message
