Media offline after cc 2017 11.0 update and audio issue

Hi,

Yesterday I was working with version 15.3 in the office's desktop. I exported the data into a hard drive, and today I wanted to work from the laptop while I am not in the office. My laptop's version was older, so I upgraded to CC 2017 (v11.0). When I tried to open the project the system asked me to update, which I did, but then, it would not link the media files. It said that the files were different, and that the problem was with the audio. Or similar message. I started checking online, and nothing seemed to work. I had saved the project, so now, I was stuck with a 2017 version of the project in my portable hard drive. But I have found a solution, which I am publishing here for anyone who faces the same issue:

1. Open the project in 2017.

2. When the window for re-linking pops up, just hit cancel.

3. The project will open with all the media offline.

4. Open Premiere 2017 and export a Final Cut Pro XML: File > Export

5. Install Premiere 2015.3; I did this by opening Creative Cloud. Check at the bottom of the window: Find Additional Apps > Previous Version > View Previous Versions Link > Premiere's Install dropdown > Select 2015.3

6. This will install the new version. Actually, you will have both versions in your computer, so you can run one or the other.

7. Open 2015.3

8. Open the Final Cut Pro XML file that you created before.

9. Re-linked media to the external hard drive.

10. Voila, it opened nicely. Now save as with new name, so you have the new 2015.3 version of the project (instead of the XML).

11. Keep working in 2015.3 until when you test in new versions of 2017 it works fine.

Please share.

Cheers.

Robert

    Great idea Robert.

Works great for footage and gives us a good start to bring projects back into 2015.   Since Final Cut does not recognize titles created in Premiere, they will not translate - we'll have to rebuild.

Adobe continues to ignore the issues on the 2017 build...
