Media offline after cc 2017 update plus audio issue

After the premiere pro cc 2017 update I have some issues with clip sequences and audio.

When starting a premiere pro file of the previous version the system says:

"This project has been created with a previous version of Premiere Pro and has to be converted..."

After clicking "OK", all the video sequences are missing. By trying to insert them manually, the audio files of the clips are missing.

I tried to start a new project with different video-clips and the same problems occur again. No audio files are in the project just the video file.

I tried to sign out and sign in to premiere pro following a troubleshooting instruction but it didnt work.

Anyone can help me? Thank you very much in advance.

I'm having the same problem . It's my masters assignment for the documentary filming due this week .three months of work and it's all not working now....

I'm also experiencing this issue, media offline and unable to relink it. I'm trying to clear my Cache but I can't locate the AppData folder to delete the Cache. When I search there's about a dozen 'AppData' folders, but they're empty.
Am I missing something here?

I too am having problems, Premiere seems to not even be importing any audio on my clips at all. I have cleared media cache and media cache files and still no audio when importing my clips. It's looking like I'll be downgrading too for now

@Diana, have you tried renaming the Common folder in the Roaming AppData folder yet? It forces Premiere to rebuild its codec database, among other things, and has worked for me every time I encounter this problem when forward-converting a project. The process exists earlier in this thread, but here are the steps for a Windows machine. I don't know the steps on a Mac, someone else will have to help out there.

On Windows:

1. Close all Adobe applications or, better yet, give your machine a quick restart to make sure there aren't any Adobe processes running in the background.

2. Hit Windows+R or, if you don't have a Windows key on your keyboard, search for "Run" in the Start Menu.

3. Enter "%AppData% and click OK.

4. Choose the Adobe folder.

5. Scroll down to the Common folder and either rename it something like "Common1" or delete it. I recommend renaming it.

6. Launch Premiere.

Hopefully that helps! And, of course, never forward-convert a project in the middle of working on it. When updating Adobe software, there's a popup menu that appears after you select Update in the Creative Cloud Desktop App. If you twirl open "Advanced Options," there will be an option for "Remove Old Versions" that is selected by default. Uncheck that box and Adobe will leave your old versions of the software on your machine. That's not an ideal situation long-term, but it gives you the flexibility to choose exactly when in your calendar you can make a clean-ish break between the old version and the new version.

15 Years of issues with Adobe, Well... This issue is going to cost me my job. Hundreds of hours into an edit, and out of the blue, all files off line. Can't relink with audio. Screening tomorrow night, NO FILM TO SCREEN!!! I CAN'T EXPORT SOMETHING THAT ISN'T THERE!! Unemployment here I come. Thanks Adobe, I appreciate the years of stress, anxiety, and frustration that comes with your products. Believe me when I say, I will never use another Adobe product. I'm done! Good Riddance. Going back to final cut, WHY?? BECAUSE IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!

MY SOLUTION ( pray it works for you - granted this is easy )

Using adobe 2017

BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR PROJECT

1 Take all your media and move it into a new folder ( what a pain! granted when you think your missing something open the project but dont save it just to test )

2 Once everything is in a new folder highlight everything in your project bin and right click - locate. When you locate one of the files from the new location it will find everything and be fixed.

What a nightmare... Never update again near project completions...

I'm sure this way mentioned in the way-back of this thread as well, but don't forget that when you're doing major version updates of Adobe CC apps, to ALWAYS go into the Advanced Options on the Update Install flyout that pops up and de-select "Remove Previous Versions."

Having multiple versions of PPro or AE of PS on your system isn't ideal, but there's rarely a perfect opportunity to clear all of your projects before updating. You can do this, finish your old projects off in the older versions of the software, and then when everything is humming along in the new version, you can uninstall the old versions.

Launch Premiere.

Just chiming in to say this worked for me also. I don't have the liberty of copying my entire project and renaming it... not all 8TB....

im done with 2017 update...all my work is now going to trash because "media pending" error, when i think i found a solution Ae, Pr or Me find a new way...waiting for 2018 release...
